WHAT DOES THE CARDIO-CHECK TEST FOR?
The Cardio-Check test is carried out by a computerized device and will check the following parameters of your cardiovascular system.
HR. Heart Rate - this is the amount of times your heart beats per minute.
PPT. Peak to peak time - this is the amount of time that the pulse wave takes to travel through your arterial tree.
RI. Reflective index - this is an indication of the condition of your endothelium.
SI. Stiffness index - this is a scale which indicates your arterial stiffness and is calculated in meters per second. This is an indicator of the state of your arteries.
VA. Vascular age - this indicates your comparative vascular age of your arterial system.
HOW LONG DOES THE TEST TAKE?
The test takes approximately 30 minutes during which your blood pressure, height and weight are also measured.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE THE TEST DONE?
A person with on going cardiovascular problems should have the test carried out every three months in order to monitor the progress of the treatment she or he is under going.
A healthy person should have the test once a year as a preventative measure.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE TEST DETECTS ANYTHING WRONG?
Depending on the findings you will be advised what action needs to be taken. There is a whole range of actions and remedies available.
HOW DO I PREPARE FOR THE TEST?
In order for the test to be reliable you need to make the following preparations:
- No tea or coffee 2 hours prior to the test
- No alcohol 24 hours prior to the test.
- No tight clothing.
- Do not rush to get to the test. You need to be as relaxed as you can be.
- No nail varnish on fingers.
HOW MUCH DOES THE TEST COST?
The test cost's £30 and that would be the cost for any subsequent test's that may be needed.
DO I NEED TO BOOK AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE TEST?
Yes you do need to book an appointment. You can do this at the practice, via e-mail or over the phone.
WHO CAN HAVE THIS TEST?
Anyone can have this test. It is a non invasive and perfectly safe, even for pregnant women.
This test is also suitable for children.
The Cardio Tract test has been clinically tested and medically approved CE mark. Clinical trials were held at ST. Thomas Hospital in London.
